Spiritual Direction is an intentional conversation where we focus on your relationship with God.
It springs from a conviction that the Holy Spirit is always at work to form us to become more like Jesus (2 Cor. 3:18, Gal. 4:19).
So the assumption is that the Spirit is the true Director and we are transformed as we listen to him together.
· “My circumstances are no longer my main focus, and reacting to them isn’t what drives me. They are a conduit to hear God calling me closer to Himself, and spiritual direction helps me hear that call more clearly.”
· “Applying spiritual direction as a regular practice has enabled me to be more aware of God’s presence during those insignificant times of the day. Spiritual direction with a group is of great value as well, in that there are others, regularly communing with God, who are able to share words of life and hope with me.”
· “During times of rest and blessing God has used Spiritual Direction and the Holy Spirit to bring growth and to open my eyes to God’s provision. God used Spiritual Direction during times of great testing and brokenness to expose error in my thought life, draw me closer to God, and help me see his presence and influence even in the darkest of circumstances.
Winslow Thurston has always had a passion for teaching God’s Word to help people change and grow in their spiritual journey, but he came to see that something more was needed. The process of spiritual transformation is personal and unique. Every believer needs companions who walk with him or her to recognize the deceitfulness of the heart and the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. Hence the need for spiritual direction.
Winslow has studied and read about spiritual formation and direction for many years. In 2012 he received a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from New Way Ministries and Dr. Larry Crabb. In 2015 he completed The Academy of Spiritual Formation and Direction and in 2016 he completed the School of Spiritual Direction both offered by SoulFormation.
